did they ever use the X-Files one before, or was that new?
I think that was from "Clap Your Hands If You Believe" ("Be careful. I hear the fourth kind's a butt thing.")
Dean sums up what really happened the last few years in a really cool single-shot take
I loved the reference to everything that happened after season 5 being the worst fan fic ever.
the audience applaud and cheer
I kind of loved how the audience showed up unenthused and not really expecting much, but then giving it a standing ovation at the end, having been won over. The musical was the little show that could, too.
There needs to be a giant LIKE button here. :-) So instead I'll give you a standing ovation for an awesome review. But I'm NOT getting splattered with purple goo! ;-)
To paraphrase the show - what you said!!! :) The ep really felt kind of like a warm hug for fandom, and it definitely gave me closure of the Samulet. The mention of Adam, and Dean and Sam's guilty look, kind of left me wondering if the show is going to bring him back in the mix at some point...
I don't think we'll ever see Adam again. I think the fact they brought him up was their way of saying that Sam, Dean, and the writers really dropped the ball on that one. And it worked brilliantly :)
I just watched. Only the second time Show has made me cry, but there you go. Great ep and fantastic review. I'm glad we had this moment in post S5 bad fanfic land, too :-)
LOL, that bad fanfic line was awesome, both in acknowledging their (writers' an showrunners') not-so-great ideas AND the not-so-great ficcage out there. Touche, Show ;)

And you're absolutely right about the play being the little show that could, too. I didn't even think about that parallel!
