I think the Mark is a lot like the mark (and Castiel) left on Dean's soul. Two ends are fighting against the middle and reminders of Daddy's Blunt Little Instrument (and how just SAYING that) can be used against him was telling. It told him a lot. That Gadreel wanted to die. And that he knew how to push Dean's buttons. Then Dean reflected on the buttons that were pushed. Were they his? Or were they the Mark?
And GABRIEL. OMG. ALL THE THINGS I CANNOT. I WANT HIM BACK NAO.
I think Metatron is a good guesser. I think he's read too many books (not a crime, I'VE read too many books - 75% of my life is reading), but reading them and writing them are two different things. You can be an awesome listener and a terrible storyteller. You can know how the formula works logically, but applying it is another matter. And when it comes to actual lives (and plots against the same) you should already have your characters and story well in hand. His fanfic needs some work (but I do love the results so far). *CACKLES*
LOL, Metatron writing fanfic, that is funneh. I rewatched it last night and I'm leaning more now to him setting things up so that they get to the ending he wants. I still don't understand how he's using the angel tablet to "power up," though. You can't give us a throwaway line like that and expect it to explain everything! Sheeshery.
I may be paranoid, but do you think Gadreel was acting a little Dean-like at the end? We don't know what REALLY happened with those two after Sam left - was it just Dean beating Gadreel up? Was there a spell? A switch? Shenanigans?! I THINK SOMETHING HAPPENED THERE!
Hmm! Now THERE is an idea! I thought Gadreel was just realizing that, once again, he's just being used, but he didn't want to say anything to piss off Metatron. Your theory is much yummier! Only one prob with it: the mark of cain is still on Dean at the end, and he's still obsessed with getting Abbadon. Gadreel had no interest in getting Abbadon. So either they are really acting their parts, or they didn't switch. But it would be SO COOL if they did! ::high-fives you::
Is Dean going to go dark, or is he just getting stabbity stabbity or what? This line so made me laugh :) Perfect!
And LOVE that Gabriel is back... sort of. :)
And I totally agree with you about Metatron. He's just confusing me and, honestly, I'm not a huge fan of that particular plot point. Right now it seems like they have two main competing storylines - Dean with his Mark and Abbadon/Crowley, and Metatron with the Angels. Other than the way that Sam was healed, and the mess that the Angels are making on earth, the second storyline is primarily Cas' and I'm not too sure that they are blending well together. Love the never-ending changing and exploration of the brothers relationship (but, really, would it kill them to get along! sheesh!), and Crowley/Abbadon makes for great monster conflict, but the Angel thing... won't be sad when that storyline finishes.
