Be proud friends: I have survived my first anime convention.
(ComicCon and like don't count because, well, comics.)

When I first approached the hotel I started to get super-nervous, because "OMG what am I doing I've only watched five animes" and other people's costumes were intimidating but it was SO FUN. A bunch of people requested to take pics of ( Read more... )

conneticon!

not to push you one way or the other, but i actually got to go to conneticon with some computer camp folk back when i was on staff there, and it was probably one of the most pleasant cons I've attended (and i just looked it up holy damn i've been to cons in six unique locations i am a junkie). big enough that there's always something amusing but small enough that the crowds generally feel a touch less claustrophobic and there's a bit more intimacy (not that i don't love the big cons-but they're pretty exhausting!). also when i was there, there was a bit more of a tabletop gaming focus, and as a magic the gathering nerd this pleased me (and also i played the shit out of some warmachine demo, good times)

Yeah, it honestly depends on whether Michelle is going (she was going to work the con, but there's some drama going on IDK). But even if I decide to go it would just be for Saturday, and there's no benefit to registering ahead of time so I can show up the day of. We'll see. I'd like to, but that may be my post-con depression talking :P

There's going to be an Utena panel at Connecticon :D :D They're doing the same plushie thing we went to, too.
I guess I'm a little apprehensive about it, but it could be fun? There's a lot of writing stuff also. And a bajillion Trek/Doctor Who/Whedon things, aka the part of geek culture I keep trying to care about and can't bring myself to.

anyway yes it was super fun! :D

HMM this is tempting now. I must expand my Utena expertise. And I guess I'm part of the geek culture enough that I would enjoy the rest of it. heh
