Oh wow. This was all kinds of hot, but it was the realism that really sold it for me - the re-jigging as they all tried to get their knees in a good spot, the positions that didn't quite work, Rodney still feeling so lost and out-of-place (but not knowing why - I hope John educates him soon :D). That last scene, where Rodney is overwhelmed by the whole thing, and embarrassed by how much fun it was, and turning that into self-loathing was such a kick to the chest. I bet Jennifer and Ronon have no idea what's going on in Rodney's head, and they'll be stunned when they realise he just left without saying anything (when does Rodney ever shut up? When he's hurting, of course!) Brilliant. (In case you're wondering, I found your fic through a delicious link for "Opportunity Knocks")
Thanks, I'm glad to know it worked for you! As you can see I obviously set it up for John to fix things, but after multiple tries -- seriously, I have drafts stopping mid-sentence! -- I concluded it needed to be something much bigger and more serious than I was ready to commit to.
