Awwww! Love steam trains. My father even used to work for a line back in the Sixties, before they were cancelled.

But if you ever happen to come to Saxony, we still have a lot of them going here, not just for tourists, they get used for every days life, school kids and such. In May there is als a huge convention where several ten thousand people come from all over Germany (and probably Europe?) to see all those trains and engines in one place.

I'm really glad that there are always enthusiastic people who preserve old technology for the next generation. It is so easy to thow everything away, and then a few years later you realize how special it was but then it is too late.

Um, I'm confused. What's a steam orphan? Something like the kid of a sea man who never is at home?

British turn of phrase. They say women who's husbands play golf are golf widows. My father played with steam trains so much I never saw him (unless we went and played too).
