Tthis morning in a dream I went to see the prop comedian who was a rising star. He wasn't an annoying goofy kind of comedian - he was actually funny. His main bit was to get people to come to his shows with their own prop gags and show them to the rest of the crowd. Yeah, it does play on a number of classic Freudian themes. I think that's the meta-gag. I'm far too aware of the symbology to have dreamt this without intentionally playing around with how it might be interpreted.

Also what grabs me is the amount of detail you recall from the dreams. I tend to have really complex storylines and "wow this should be a movie" type recollections of the dream,but when it comes down to recalling the details that'd help it make sense to anyone else I come up blank.

That usually happens to me too. In this case it was a relatively normal dream, and I woke up just as it was ending. I thought about it in the shower and realized I could look at the gaps in my memory of the dream and think about what must have been intended. It all had an internal logic that my dreams usually lack. I was also able to write it down shortly after having it.

So in other words, you scripted and directed a full-length TV movie with a perfectly coherent, symbolically meaningful plot in your head in one night's dream.

That's so unfair.
