Riku put his pencil down obediently and handed the piece of paper up to Vexen. He had finished well before the time limit was up, but Vexen had taught him to always go back over his work.
Vexen placed a bony, angular hand on the replica’s soft hair as his eyes scanned the sheet. He felt Riku move anxiously beneath his fingers and smiled to himself. The little experiment wanted his reward. It was just a pity that Vexen couldn’t reward him too often. He did so enjoy giving the replica little treats.

It hurt to give in to the darkness, but sometimes it hurt even more to resist.
Riku hated the way that it made him feel. Drugged and dizzy and euphoric, even though he knew that he was in pain. It was like the sting of a harmful insect.

Xehanort was always in his ear, whispering and buzzing like an insect. And the Heartless, always around him like a swarm of locusts, their bodies blacking out the light of the sun.
A plague. That’s what they were.
Not a complete fic, but more of an excerpt! I may come back and do a Battle Royale one later. ^^;; I wish I was more familiar with it.
