Hey! I popped over when I got your reply! Yeah, Santos is being an asshole again (I dubbed him Santos version 1.0 in my episode review - the guy who wanted Josh to run his campaign and then proceeded to ignore his advice most the time!) and I'd like to hang him by his thumbs and beat him with a pogo stick - or take him out to the woodshed and whack him with a 2x4!
At least he did realise Josh was right last week (eventually) and I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and think that maybe he's just the slightest bit overwhelmed at the moment. But he'd better get himself sorted out soon, dammit!
Anyway, like I said before, I enjoyed your fic - I think I've read all the stuff you posted recently and have liked it, so well done. And my offer to beta still stands (I beta for quite a few people, so I'm pretty good at it! *g*) - I'm a bit of a stickler for grammar and stuff (like Toby!) but I usually work fast, so if you can use me, give me a shout - you can email me via LJ ...

"Santos needs to be drop-kicked" is how I think I put it, at one point. Either he thinks Josh is the only person he can trust or he's a lunatic! It's like Santos has an evil twin that takes over with no warning!

I'll probably take you up on you offer the next time I finish something large like this. Try as I might, my proof-reading skills are totally lacking. My brain sees what should be there, not what actually is!

I think I called Santos "prick-elect" at one point! And I know what you mean about proof reading - but I've done it professionally, so I know a few tricks!

Oh - and I read your rant - I thought exactly the same (and posted to that effect, too!) but then remembered that the comments about "Sam being the only one who can handle Josh" were in fact said by that efwit Lawrence O'Donnell... who didn't write the episode! (thank gawd!) I'm cautiously optimistic about "Transition" and really, really hope it lives up to our expectations!

Great fic Quaggy. I liked you addressing Donna's thoughts about working as spokesperson because I wasn't happy with the idea of her as deputy press secretary - it always seemed that the work she enjoyed at the WH was the legislative stuff and spokesperson was just what she got into on the campaign (as well as practically being deputy campaign mgr when she was on the Russell campaign). I'm also not thrilled with the idea of Josh as CoS because I want him to have a life (potentially 16 years in the WH is not healthy) so a conversation like this with Santos would have been good to see. Sadly, there isn't enough time.
"Of course, the cutesiness of his and hers Chiefs of Staff is enough to give you tooth decay.” Hee! I so agree. It's kind of painful.

Hee! It's been almost two years since you posted this and I just realized I never responded to your comment! (I was really bad at that during the early days.) So, for the form of things, thank you very much! :-P

Of course, the cutesiness of his and hers Chiefs of Staff is enough to give you tooth decay. omg yes. but i still love it. perfect sentiment.

also, the bit about why CJ over Josh...actually, that is the, hands-down, best explanation ever. and it explains why they don't really discuss it in the show. i...i'm quite impressed. i totally completely accept your reasoning. and i'm normally the argumentative sort.

(and i def agree about Santos being a nonce quite a lot. i have a reason, fuzzy-like, in my brain, that i haven't attempted to articulate yet - strangely, i started a fic that was Jed and Matt discussing Josh as the future CoS, and that got me thinking about the reasoning behind why he would be that way. but being headstrong has always been a part of the character, and being "steered" or "handled" by anyone always seems to be against his grain...even if it's for his own good...)

Hee! Thank you! It really is the only thing that makes sense to me and it works so well within cannon.

Santos was tough. I liked him so much... but every once in a while (mostly in relation to Josh) you just wanted to know what he was smoking!
