F-List Drabbles Batch1

Aug 26, 2009 10:58

You guys are all completely wonderful!! Both the prompts and the response has been fantastic. I've finished four and have at least three more almost ready to go! Even better, my newly returned muse has been helping my longer fics along too. Not bad for less than 24 hours! Thank you all so much!

Title: Nice Kitty
Word Count: 100
Fandom: House
Prompts: "House & Wilson, Wilson gets a cat"
For: farmerliz
Notes: I don't really watch House, though I do know the characters. My darling flippet provided some helpful videos to makes sure I got the voices right, but I actually didn't have to look too far for inspiration. I was mostly writing a drabble about my own brat cat.

"Tell me, what on earth would possess you?"

"I like the company."

"Alright supposing that's true in some pathetic, co-dependent corner of the universe... Why this particular cat?"

"She needed me."

"There are plenty of nice cats that need homes. This is not a nice cat."

"I wouldn't say that. She likes me."

"You feed her. She hisses at everyone else who happens to pass by."

"So she's a little grumpy."

"She runs into rooms just so she can swat people. Doesn't that seem a little strange?"

"Doesn't seem all that abnormal to me. Guess I'm just used to it."

Title: The Fine Art of the Prank
Word Count: 100
Fandom: Life With Derek
Prompts: "Edwin and Derek Venturi - prank-planning"
For: unoriginal_liz
Note: Another fandom I've never written for before. (But Lord knows, I've read a ton of fic for it!) This one practically wrote itself in my brain before I was able to get anywhere near a computer!

"Come on, Ed! THINK!"

"Seriously, Derek, you've been shooting down prank ideas for over an hour. Will you just ask Casey to go out with you and get it over with?"

"WHAT?!"

"That's what this is all about, right?

"..... Maybe."

"So, ask her! I bet you anything she'll say yes!"

"If I ask her outright, she'll think I'm pranking her! I got to prank her first or she'll never believe I'm serious!"

"Well...........You can always do something to her clothes again."

"Naw, last time she borrowed something from Lizzie."

"As oppose to borrowing from you?"

"Exactly."

"You're so gone."

Title: Post-Its
Word Count: 100
Fandom: Dead Like Me
Prompts: "any characters - post it confusion"
For: unoriginal_liz
Note: I've been wanting to write DLM fic!

It was Mason's fault that it happened, which wasn't all that surprising.

It was George who fixed it, which should have been surprising considering she was still technically "newly dead", but wasn't so much if you knew her.

But none of that really mattered, because the look on Rube's face when he realized that his post-its had gotten mixed in with the post-its belonging to Mason's reap (post-its containing names and timestamps of oral history videos) was almost worth the trouble of sorting out which were real appointments with death and which were of the "bore you to death" variety.

Title: Mixing It Up
Word Count: 100
Fandom: Dead Like Me
Prompts: "any characters - post it confusion"
For: unoriginal_liz
Note: Same prompt, different scenario. I like this one much better. Actually, I'm a little afraid this might have happened on the show and my brain decided that I came up with it on my own. It was pretty late when I wrote it.

"Mason, that's my post-it," Roxy snapped.

"No, it's not. Rube clearly gave it to me!" Mason objected.

"Roxy, that's your post-it," Daisy said, pointing to a yellow square on her left. "Mason has mine."

Rube let them bicker for a few more moments until finally he had enough. Taking everyone's post-it back, he doled them out again, sticking George's to her forehead. George, who had been more interested in the her pancakes during all this, barely a raised eyebrow. Her eyes flickered to the small piece of paper as she removed it.

"Rube, this isn't the same post-it as before."

Next up, I have Harry Potter for farmerliz, yet another DLM from unoriginal_liz's same prompts, at least two West Wing for kiss_me_cassie and a little Josh\Donna for gatsbyfan. If I haven't named your prompt, expect it in Batch 3. (Unless the writing muse is REALLY active!) If have a prompt you'd like me to take a shot at, go here.

fic - lwd, fic - everything else, fic - drabble, fic - 100 word drabble, fic - dead like me, fic - non-west wing
