Don't take the heroin(e)

Aug 07, 2011 00:39

It's been over a month since my last real post, which is the longest I've gone for some time now. And that's because, well........I haven't had much to really talk about. Lately I've been feeling less willing to write long entries in LJ/DW and more willing to just reblog stuff over at Tumblr (

..........YOU'VE NEVER READ HARRY POTTER? YOU'VE NEVER...YOU'VE NEVER READ HARRY POTTER. i don't know if we can be friends anymore. your new assignment is to read all seven books before i meet you tomorrow, okay? YOU HAVE ELEVEN AND A HALF HOURS: GO!

but before i disown you: *major hugs* ohhh, depressive symptoms. my constant companion, for better and for worse (mostly for worse). GOOD TIMES. even though it probably doesn't seem like it right now, i promise you, things get so much better. they really really do. LIKE IN ELEVEN AND A HALF HOURS :D. no, but seriously, three cheers for seeking treatment. knowing you need help and then getting yourself help is a huge important step and a really good sign that things will improve. knowing that you do not like feeling empty and numb and actively trying to change it is an awesome sign.

Then again, my new psychiatrist called me Batman

i still need to know the context for this, btw.

"LiveJournal is so last decade." And quite frankly, I'm starting to feel the same way.noooooooo D: but but ( ... )

NO I DON'T WANNA READ HARRY POTTER NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD:

Seriously, though, it was just one of those things that just didn't pique my interest, even after the whole "Well, everyone seems to be talking about this, there must be something to this series, right?" crossed my mind. I just.....never understood the appeal, apparently. :PPP Plus, K. told me that the last couple of books went really downhill, and essentially told me to stay away from the series as a whole (and risamitsukai kinda told me the same thing). Eh, I've got too many other things I want to read anyway. ^_^;

Thank you. *hugs back*

TRUTH. Change can be really hard, though, because that's what you're used to, and you actually have to work at getting better, and that's........really fucking hard. I'm really feeling that right now ( ... )

aw :(. yeah, i'm one of those people who literally grew up with harry potter, and am so overinvested in it that i can't even separate literary merit from my ~~feelings. harry potter was at the core of my childhood, and it's been such a profound cultural force in my life that i actually can't even imagine my life without it (as nerdy/dramatic as that may sound). oh yeah, and the last couple of books are my favorites. so. HARUMPH, I SAY.

TRUTH. Change can be really hard, though, because that's what you're used to, and you actually have to work at getting better, and that's........really fucking hard. I'm really feeling that right now; on one hand, I want to get better, but on the other hand, I have this urge to just stay in my room for the rest of my life, y'know? Do you get where I'm coming from? ;_;

absolutely. wanting to get better is such an important piece of it though. i reached a point where i was just...incapable of caring. without exaggeration, i did not care whether i lived or died because i felt like i was dead already. and ( ... )

Yeah, I guess HP is just one of those things you have to grow up with to fully appreciate. Then again, I don't have a strong affinity for nostalgia in the first place, so I doubt it would've left that much of an impact anyway. (Like, the only reason I'd continue reading a series like that is to find out what happens next. It would be more of an "OH GOD THIS SERIES HAS ME BY THE GONADS EVEN THOUGH I DON'T REALLY ENJOY IT ALL THAT MUCH" situation than anything else. XD)

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. I've never been depressed to the point of being suicidal, which is a big help, but I've been stuck in this rut for too long, and it's good to hear that things do get better. I'm still young, so I can take all the time I need to manage this better. ^_^;

THERE WILL BE A RENAISSANCE GODDAMMIT. IF IT'S THE LAST THING I DOOOOOO.

Eh, IDK. Like I said on Facebook, the only reason LJ is still around is because of the Russians. (And not you. Stop being so narcissistic. :PPP) And LJ is basically the blogging site in ( ... )

Yeah, I hate it when other social networks outrun LiveJournal. I wish my friends would, if not be active, at least stay here! But at least I can read your entries on Tumblr :)

Hope you find a suitable treatment. I suffer from schizoaffective disorder and I have had hard time growing stronger, but it has been worth it :) Sending you some good energy.

You rock, Batman!

I definitely plan on staying here for a while; LJ will always be my first and most favorite social networking site. But Tumblr's where I'm the most active nowadays. ^_^;

Thank you very much for the kind words and encouragement. I really appreciate it! :D

I mean, it'd be nice to read the books and/or watch the movies just so I can get all the references people make, but eh......it's not that big of a deal, honestly. ^_^;

Thanks for the kind words. *hugs back*

Oh I'll still be on LJ for quite some time! But when you see people you know are awesome update less regularly than before, and you know some people outright moving to Tumblr or Dreamwidth, well......D:

Isn't it a great book? XD I'm trying to get through The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, but even though I'm half way through it, it's been two months since I picked it up. Oops. O_O; (And consequently, two_grey_rooms told me about Palimpsest just the other day. Worth checking out?)

Tumblr is the easy option in terms of sharing things, I can see why everybody's moving but NOO COME BAACK D: I've been resisting getting an account for so long but if any more people ditch this place I'll be stuck in that damn web site for even longer periods of time than on here. XD

Man, sorry you feel so blah. I really hope you find solutions in the stuff that's coming up, I want you to feel better. :< Congrats to your mum, though! And have fun with two_grey_rooms! Ooo it must be so exciting to meet with an LJ friend IRL :D ( ... )

I'll still be here on LJ! I'm not leaving anytime soon, that's for sure. ^_^; But you're right, Tumblr is much more of a time suck, and much less energy-consuming than LJ.

Thanks for the kind words; I really appreciate it! And I definitely had fun with two_grey_rooms yesterday, thanks for asking! :D

Why do you hate the HP movies so much? Do they really butcher the books that much? O_O;

The weird thing for me is, people have always told me I'd either be in Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. I'm glad the test recognized the Ravenclaw, but Slytherin? Didn't see that coming, that's for sure. ._.,

I already have a buttload of tumblrs in my favourites that I browse through that I have to cut down on regularly, I can't imagine how that list would expand if I got a dashboard. XD

YES THEY DOO. I know they're pretty good movies if you forget they're adaptations but.. well, I've always been bitter about the fact they were so impatient to cash in on the book's popularity that they didn't bother waiting till we know the end! Cutting out all these things that end up extremely important, you know? you've probably heard this argument thousands of times and I could go on and on XD

Also, I detest Michael Gambon's Dumbledore (if I could even say it's Dumbledore? Looks like the same role in all his other movies that I've seen. Harrumph.)

Slytherin isn't necessarily evil, it's just that all the baddies come from that house. or durmstrang The Sorting hat almost put Harry there, so even the best of people have Slytherin qualities.

Uwaaah you've never read Harry Potter?! (*´Д`) I kid, I kid! lol But your results do seem to match your personality, at least the parts I know of it ha ha. Ravenclaws are very intelligent and Slytherins are ambitious, so I can see why you'd get Slytherclaw. (I took that test after you posted it, and I got just Gryffindor. xD)

I'm starting to feel like LJ is "last decade" too, even if I don't want that to be true... But, well the both of us are still using this site, so that must count for something right?

I never expected Slytherin, TBH -- I know they're not necessarily "bad guys," but from what I knew about them, it didn't seem like my kind of people. And I'm not that ambitious of a person anyway. :/

But, well the both of us are still using this site, so that must count for something right?

I'm sure it does! I really do like how LJ is set up, as both a blogging site and a way to meet new people (Tumblr is too impersonal, there's not all that much you can do with Twitter, and Facebook is.....well, Facebook), but I really don't see it being all that viable in the long-term. On the other hand, Dreamwidth is something I can see growing and taking LJ's place when LJ finally becomes passé.
