Posting this in a separate entry just because:

I Ship You With ____ Meme

And because I didn't get a lot of responses the first time I did this, I'm going to go head and post this one again:

1. Comment in this post with a pairing, a character, or theory.
2. I shall write you back a paragraph explaining what I think about it (good, bad, indifferent) and ( Read more... )

Mmm . . . how about Azula? Or Celty?

Or, theories-wise, the fanon that Ty Lee has airbender ancestry?

Azula: I admit I didn't like her all that much at first -- I tend not to like characters that come across as sociopaths in general, and on first glance she seemed particularly one-dimensional. But after watching the show a second time and reading about it on TV Tropes, I think I'm starting to like her more, mostly because I've realized she isn't so one-dimensional after all. What she does in "The Beach" is pretty telling, and her downfall is very believable given its circumstances. And then that Mai/Ty Lee fic I linked to you last night sealed the deal. So yeah, I like her now -- she's not a ~strong~ female character, but she's a very well-developed one all the same.

Celty: Well, I've already talked about her at length, so. XD I like her because she's a convincing mess of contradictions -- she's independent and can handle a lot of tough things on her own, and yet she's also in a somewhat co-dependent relationship with Shinra. "My own mother thought I was a monster. --She was right, of course, but it still hurt."

Celty/Shizuo is my DRRR!! friendship OTP. For ALWAYS. <3 Although my feelings on the show itself are kind of complicated. I love every individual thing about it, but. . . .

One of my favorite lines in the whole series -- funny and poignant at the same time. You don't see that too often in kids' TV shows, lemme tell ya. ^_^;

Agreed.

And I'd be interested in hearing your conflicting views on Durarara!! -- chances are I'll probably agree with most of it anyway. XD
