If Character A is saying something important about Character B they don't want B to overhear, the probability of B overhearing increases with just how much A wants their statement to stay secret. Thus, of course Breccan would overhear Nico. Of course. It couldn't happen any other way. It just couldn't.

This is a bit of a mess of feelings, isn't it?
