So I've seen a goodly range of people across t'internet saying that The Doctor's Wife was the first episode of the season with any real heart or emotion. And putting aside the fact that it's only the fourth episode out of thirteen...what?
I thought watching the Doctor get murdered in front of his helpless traumatized friends was pretty damn emotional. I thought watching Rory think Amy loves the Doctor more than him was pretty emotional. Maybe everyone means the romance sort of emotion..."heart"? The scene with River realising she'd just kissed her "sweetie", her Doctor, for the very last time, just about broke mine.
So, yeah...I'm in the dark here, as usual. What am I missing? Or rather, what am I not missing that everyone else is?
On the flip side, though - how fucking awesome was that Confidential?
Arthur Darvill thinks the "cool" bits of the Tardis are the swimming pool and the library. Let me marry this man now.
Neil Gaiman being an eight year old fanboy and reading to us = ♥
Steven Moffat's utterly filthy giggle when he says "if the Tardis was a woman, he'd be very happy, wouldn't he?" is a thing of utter beauty. :) Dirty boy! Keep it up.
Ditto Beth Willis's eyeroll when Moffat said the Tardis's actress couldn't be "just a straightforward babe-ess, has to be a real character".
Confidential interviewed the caterers. I don't know why that is so awesome, it just IS. Plus Neil Gaiman got irrationally happy about beans on toast for his 2:30pm breakfast.
Eight! Finally! We got Eight in the Tardis montage! They could have chosen some better clips for old!skool Doctor/Tardis, though...Four in particular was especially pervy tender as I recall, stroking her and cooing at her all the time. But Eight! It's nice when TPTB acknowledge that he's canon too.
Neil Gaiman playing with Old!Rory's false nose. I wanted to see MUCH more of that scene.
Beth Willis and Steven Moffat's utterly straight faces when lying about Rory's makeup. Evil overlords, both. >:)
Suranne Jones is a northerner!
I actually laughed out loud, for several moments, when Gaiman said "'Pull to Open'. Because of course, you DO pull to open a police box... Can you imagine how long that must have irritated the Tardis?" XD
Q
Not really, Neil...but now I think I can imagine how long it must have irritated you. :)
