Fan question: "What are your thoughts on Benedict Cumberbatch as the Master?"

Steven Moffat: “Don’t you think my life is confusing enough? And listen, if John Simm could hear you, you would not live another hour. He came up to me after the, uh - I shouldn't tell you this, but I'm going to - after the press launch for the ( Read more... )

IMHO this is the sort of matter best settled through jelly wrestling.

*nods*

With as little interference by meddlesome clothing as humanly possible.

Although, alternatively, those two could just hold a modelling competition.

For one very surreal moment, I thought you meant modelling clay. "My dinosaur's bigger than your sabre-toothed tiger! RAWR!"

I still like my leather bondage idea better, though.

*happy dance* And the best part is... the Moff didn't rule out a return of the Simm!Master!

Okay, it's far from confirmation, but he didn't rule it out.

I reckon they'd leave it till year after next at least, or maybe an s7 Christmas cliffhanger (*hope*). It sounds like Moffat and company really had their hands full with s6, and with all the spec about who River might actually be, maybe they're a bit shy of overdoing the whole 'OMG another Time Lord!" thing.

Either way, when the Master comes back? I want him in leather. Restraints and clothing both.

Oh, certainly they'll leave it 'til later. Moffat likes playing the long game. (Exhibit A: 'Silence will fall.') Although, this season is supposed to be a two-parter... maybe a cliffhanger on the winter finale?

Ooooh, isn't that a lovely mental image. :D I wonder what color they'll make his hair this time. Ginger?

HA! Yes! The Doctor would be unbelievably jealous...

"You...you're ginger!!"
"I had noticed the trend. *eyes Amy* Developing a bit of a fetish, are we, Doctor?" *purses lips*

So Moffat is basically agreeing that if the Master comes back, John gets first refusal on the role. I like that, a lot.

And look at me, I’m fit!

JS really is the most confusing mixture of "I'm shy, I don't like the attention" and total mindfuck arrogance. But the Simm!Master is a wondrous creation which I would be very happy to see oozing sex emoting viciously across my screen again. *hopes*

So it's the old, "when an actor says no, he really means yes" routine? :/

Seriously, I have never encountered a bigger flirt/tease in my born days than Simm seems to be from his interviews etc. I reckon maybe it's part of that "act like you're doing them a favour" schtick he learnt back in drama school, but I can't decide if I find the fact that he feels like he still has to do it now that he's actually got a career baffling or endearing.

Re: first refusal - Moffat would be mad as a bat to pass up a sure-fire box office draw like Simm. Somewhere I read an interview where the three of them met at some showbizzy function and Matt Smith was all hyped to take on Simm's Master. (And I quite agree - it's high time the show had a naked jello wrestling scene, after all.)
