You might have actually done something called "read the Bible". I'm convinced that a lot of fundies have not. :p

Yeah...there was that survey that showed atheists and agnostics know more about religion than believers. And while I really don't like the haughty and contemptuous tone of his article, I have to agree with Dave Silverman's point that "Many religious people do not read their holy books for fear of finding things they don’t like... In other words, religious people already have doubts, and avoid reading their Bibles to avoid addressing those doubts."

(Megan Friedman put it much better, I think: "It may be because once someone accepts a faith, they stop examining it.")

Anyway, I think some believers probably do read the Bible...they just don't remember it very well.
