Okay..this version of the song rocks and will have to persuade my loving husband to download it to my MP3 list. I can picture doing the elliptical to this :). As far as the video..excellent work! I'm sooo gonna have to check this out!
It is good, innit? I didn't make it, but I hope to learn vidding one day so I can make a fanvid to the proper version of the song. ;)
And yeah, the Tennant Casanova is well worth checking out, especially now that you can rent the region 1 dvd with extra scenes. It boggles me that Russell T. Davies produced work that good before inflicting such fail on Doctor Who. :/
It helps to know more about the song to download it. :) So I looked and figured out what was going on.
One of the things Brian Connolly did after Sweet dissolved (and before his death) was re-record Sweet songs with a new band, usually under the title of "Brian Connolly's Sweet" or something like that. I don't think fans were very receptive to what was seen as a cheap cash-in, so these recordings probably are rather obscure by now. I found similar examples to the song here and here, for instance -- although they seem to be different mixes. Other titles released, but I haven't found on Amazon, include "Let's Go" and "Brian Connolly Performs Sweet's Greatest Hits", the multiple titles and releases definitely not helping fan opinion I'm sure.

Actually, the link I posted above goes directly to the download page at Amazon...assuming you want to buy it, that is. I'm guessing you wanted to find it by other means? :)
Anyway, many thanks for the story behind the song...I did wonder why a different version was recorded in the first place.
Why just the first half? Have you seen the second half, or been told it's too sad? I agree that episodes 1 and 2 are definitely the most watchable - 1's good for watching Tennant be a cheeky scoundrel, and 2's good for the h/c...(ah, poor scruffy fugitive Giac; nom)...still, though, as depressing as ep 3 is, it's definitely worth watching the whole thing at least once.
And yeah, the songquest was a hunt and a half! I sorted through several gajilliion YouTube vids of the original, then found a version by Poison that was close, but still had the slower tempo, then I found the Fahrenheit 451 mix, which had the right tempo and vocals but too much crap over the top of it to be listenable. Finally I just typed the title into Amazon's 'mp3' search box and started going through each title until I found the right one. :)
I caught the second half on PBS last year when it aired but missed the first half and have been too lazy to dig it up. The second half made my h/c-lovin' heart go pitterpat, but dang, looks like I missed out on an awful lot of sexytime in the first half.
Your songquest reminds me there's a bunch of stuff I've been meaning to hunt up, too! Lazy bird is lazy.
