still reading watership down by richard adams, and have just gotten through two very sweet scenes of hazel looking after pipkin. in the first one pipkin's got a nasty thorn in his paw, and hazel gently licks the wound until he can pull the thorn out with his teeth. in the second, pipkin's worried about the others leaving him behind, and hazel ( Read more... )

yeah...i kind of wanted to see if thompson's ideas jelled with peoples' real experiences, though; because it still seems a bit cut and dried to me. i certainly don't think the same would hold true for girls, since they tend to bully other girls for the benefit of looking cool in front of their friends/each other, and the presence or absence of boys is kind of irrelevant.
