Nia Update

Jan 23, 2009 06:42

Did not go to Nia Tuesday night because I felt like a truck had hit me and I was utterly drained of energy. Went to bed at 8pm, fell asleep immediately.

I did go last night and enjoyed it, even though I'm once again sore all over this morning ( Read more... )

I love bellydancing. Started doing it about 15 years ago (possibly more). I don't really perform in front of an audience anymore, but I love the way it makes me feel when a drummer is drumming, the dancers are dancing, and the energy of the audience, musicians, and dancers seems to sizzle in the air.

It's not hard, especially when you find your niche. I don't fit into a specific genre, but I am an 'attitude', playful dancer. My sensual stuff always has an edge of strength to it. "She's hot, but she'd probably kick my butt," is the feel. ;-) That's where I fit.

I wish you the best of luck in this endeavor. I look forward to hearing your progress in it (as well as all your posts on ballroom dancing.

Thanks for sharing this. You'd think that it would be obvious that there are different styles to adopt, and different styles will be more comfortable and natural for different people, but your comment was very liberating for me.

Yoga! :D

Honestly it was the only reason I was considering getting a Wii. However I am right now torrenting the p90x program and there is an hour and a half yoga program you do once every few days, so that makes me gleeful (and definately needed for a burgeoning goaltender!).

However, the progam is pretty intense. So should I pass on, I hope you all knew me fondly. :)

I don't know how much late night tv you watch (or how much tv at all) but its one of those weight/muscle training programs you'd see on late at night (and weekend) advertising you'll look ripped in 90 days. Its the only one I know of that actually works, as several members of a goaltending board I am on have used the program and have seen increased results, although there are downsides (you need to do the cycle more than once to really get like the people on tv, can really wear you out if you do the complete thing during the regular season). Some chose to go through it again, and some have chosen to use the program to supplement their already existing training schedule. I'm planning on using it during the summer, then using a different, more goalie-specific one in the fall/winter.

I think one of the major upsides is that it gets you in shape, and that it helps you stick to a schedule. Its just really hard core.

Sorry about that block of text! :)

I just bought two bellydance videos as well. I'm excited about trying them. Let me know how it goes with you.
