being a bio major sucks. i love my actual bio classes, but the peripherals: chem, o-chem, biochem, and physics -- seem too daunting. not to mention my motivation problems -- I don't know what it is in me that makes me conclude that watching arrested development is more worthwhile than chemistry homework ( Read more... )

Screw the Underground Man (even though I liked reading that); economics is cool and Chicago has a fantastic department! All off those majors sound interesting. I myself am going in for engineering stuff so I may not be the best liberal arts judge, but I'm minoring in economics (hopefully). I saw your photos in an edition of the UChicago paper the admissions office sent me. I don't remember what it was though, but it was cool!

On another note, I am saving up to buy a DLSR over the summer before college and am currently debating b/w the Canon 30D and 400D (rebel XTi). Any recommendations?

:)

I have the Rebel XT, and I've used the rebel XTi. I've never used the 30d, but I like the XTi a lot. I'm not really sure what the primary difference between the two is, besides physicalities like frame stability (30d is better) and size (XTi is better for smaller hands). but if you're buying either of those, I really recommend you buy a 50mm f/1.4 lens. It's a great lens, and really cheap too.
