I think of the 40s and picture the war-era, Vargas girls, and Rosie the Riveter.
The 30s was Depression Era, mostly... so I picture street wise runaways (journey of natty gann) and Swing Kids.
I definitely think of 90s in terms of the grunge / garage punk / jeans and t-shirts and flannel crowd. But, I also think we could use another 20 years before we can look back at the 90s and the 00s and pin point what was iconic about them. ... maybe.
I was just reminded yesterday of the clothing trend of the past ten years -- pants that do not fit, either being too big and hanging halfway down the ass (on guys) or too small and constricting halfway down the ass (on girls). There is also the proliferation of the tattoos on the small of girls backs.

The past ten years have been the Bush era. Young Republicans ruled. ...I think I preferred the flannel shirts.
That's all I got.
