Crickey, just how old was Jimmy Perry? Did he remember Waterloo as well?

Born 1923, according to IMDB. He based the character of Pike on his own experience in the Home Guard.

"for the most part the material covered is much the same as Victoria Wood's documentary Don't Panic!" - McCann's book was written before that doc went out.
