This morning I discovered I have a chip in the windscreen. It's less than 6cm from the edge, so Autoglass say it has to be replaced, not repaired. There's a £70 excess. My tax bill is due this month - after several years of overpayments, last year I underpaid. And there's still the bathroom to fix.

At least I am going to eat well tonight.

My recommendation is to not use Autoglass, for all the reasons you witnessed at first hand, particularly not the Reading branch. The insurers try to steer you towards them but you can opt to use an alternative repairer.
