Tasting Notes

Over the weekend, there were two wines worthy of comment. The first was River Route 2004 Merlot, from Romania, interestingly intense. Notes on Teh Interweb suggest that this brand can be quite variable, so maybe I was lucky. All a label really has to say on it is "old vines" to get me excited. Ah. You'll be thinking of Ruby of Crimea listed in the link, found in a supermarket in Denmark for £1 a bottle when we were students (yes, the label was in English). At the time a pint of lager was £3 in Denmark due to local taxes, I've always wondered what the anti-freeze content might have been, but it was very nice.
