fansee, i love rules, too...i thrive on routine BUT all bets were off with QAF. i went to blockbuster (oct. 2002) and brought home the first tape. (i didn't have a DVR but that was rectified about 10 minutes after 122). the first tape had 101-104. the next day, i went back and picked up the rest of the first season and marathoned back-to-back episodes, breaking for a little sleep and eating, of course. i couldn't wait one extra minute! next, came the DVR and subscription to showtime...just in time for season 2 reruns...i was the happiest of campers!! you have excellent self-control!
So when you saw 122, you could go right to Showtime and find out what happened? I wonder how I would have handled it if I'd seen 122 when it initially aired. I'd have freaked and then I would have gone on line, looking for even the smallest hints, and would have ended up totally Spoiled. There was a purity in seeing it long after it aired, with no idea of what was coming, and of then being able to see the outcome with no preconceptions.
You have excellent self-control! It didn't feel like self-control at the time. Four episodes a night was about all I could handle, plus that number struck a balance between lots and lots of QAF every night and the inevitable time when there wouldn't be any new episodes to look forward to. Hiatus can be a curse word. FanSee
I love your self-imposed rules. I make some 'weird' ones up for myself as well. ;) Not with qaf, though, I watch everything within days, I have no self-restraint when it comes to Brian and Justin. *g*
How well I know that obsession. I still don't own season 5 but I am about to bite the bullet and spend the money. Oh and La Femme Nikita I own all the dvds. I watched the show as it aired and my dog is named Nikita. Also my lj name is from that show. I like to say it is one of my 4 obsessions. Lyn

Nice icon.
Nikita was an obsession of a friend, and when I started watching it with my granddaughter, she became obsessed in turn. We were just saying we should go back and rewatch, especially S4. I'm a little hazy on S4.
I would never have connected the cyber-name. Very clever. FanSee
Love your "rules". I watched it on tv when it started here in Australia in 2000, so I had no choice but to watch one episode per week. LOL! We were also lucky in that it aired free to air here. I must admit I bought each boxed set as it became available and have been known to sit and watch 3 to 4 episodes at once when I only intended to watch one. It's just waaaaay too addictive.
What in the world did you do after you saw the last episode of S1? I would have gone nutz!
I think DVDs make a big difference for fandoms. We were BIG fans of the original Star Trek...and goodness knows Star Trek spawned a fandom...but we had to wait for summer reruns to see the episodes a second time. Can you imagine?
I looked from Brian's tear-stained face to the first disk of Season 2, lying on the DVD cabinet in its red Netflix wrapper. I thought, "If this was a book, would I keep reading? You bet your sweet ass I would. I'd read until I literally fell asleep with my cheek plastered to a page."
Oh, you had me rolling with this one! I would have totally freaked if I didn't have season 2 sitting there after 122. I have great admiration for those that watched the series in real time!
Honest to God. I don't know how those guys made it through that first hiatus. I only suffered through the hiatus between S4 and S5, and that was bad enough. But after the bashing...omigod. FanSee
