If the arahats and others who weaved those old tapestries were depicting a vision, I imagine what they saw would be very pure, very bright colors.

Speaking of brilliant colors, have you seen Curse of the Golden Flowers? I just watched it and wow.

After taking that movie into consideration with Crouching Tiger, Hero, and others; I came to the conclusions that true "Wushu" movies never really have a happy ending. Jaw dropping visuals though.

Yeah, that's kind of Chinese opera for you--it almost always has an unhappy ending. I'm not sure about Chinese culture, but in Japanese, romantic love was considered a curse, and so it almost always ended in tragedy.
