Ochus is delightful! Little Alexios is such a sunny, happy, perfect child - looks like he has a far nicer, loving childhood than his Dad did at Pella. Looking forward to their very "interesting" relationship.

Oh.. and I just LOVE the "He's Hephaistion" line. I was hoping, hoping (afterwards) you'd use that there - it's just perfect......

More soon, please!

I like Ochus too. And Alexios has a much better childhood than Alexander did. The relationships should prove interesting.

And I'm glad you liked that line. When you said I should say something, that was just so obvious.

I hope to write more soon.

Your fic is very very interesting :) It sounds like a great AU, and your glimpse on Ochus is fascinating and strange (I mean, no one talks about him in fanfiction...). Personally, I think he died in his childhood, probably killed by Alexander's men. You know, moralistic comments of historians apart, I think Alexander was too wise to let live him, he was too dangerous for his throne, too meaningful for his Persian subjects. The silence of the sources about his death doesn't surprise me: the process of "glorification" and the action of Alexander's apologists started very soon, and the sources we have are surely already part of this process, mingled with the moralistic intentions of the historians. It's interesting for me what you say in your notes, that religion will have a great part in your story: good! I like it! Yet you say that Persians were monotheistic: I think (IMO) we shouldn't mistake the later phases of the Zoroastrian religion with its beginning: the redaction of the "Avesta" we have is from V-VI century a.C., but at the ( ... )

Thank you for your lovely comments, and babbling is never a problem.

You're right, there is a good chance Ochus was killed as a child, and that wouldn't have gotten written into the records.

As for the religion, thank you for your comments. I was mostly working with what moon71 has helped me with (she's Armenian), but I am always willing to be contradicted. I hope to do more research before religion plays a major role in the story. Since you listed the book by Boyce, I'll go see if I can track a copy down, as it sounds very helpful.

Thanks again for all your wonderful and insightful comments.
