This kind of thing always drives me out of my fucking mind. As much as I, as an FTM, do not want to identify as a woman or with women...come on. We've ALL seen "Boys Don't Cry." They raped him because he was born female. So this place wouldn't have extended any help to the 19-year-old scared kid even if he had gone forward. Nice to know where people stand.
It also perpetuates the myth that only women are raped and only men are the rapists. I have at least one friend who's been the victim of same-sex sexual assault and my guess is, with an attitude like theirs, they wouldn't have helped her either.
(Oh, and on a mod note, I think cut-triggers on this type of topic are useful so let's keep them. It's not meaning we can't talk about them, just means those who *can't* talk about them can steer clear.)
I'm still conflicted. but I also wish their existed rape council centres for men. (as one who's been sexually assaulted in the past). it is complicated.
