interesting just how many of these 'primitive' societies had no problem with gender-bending.

There are some other possibilities that the article left out; sometimes priests are buried in ways of the other sex, or they could've even misidentified the skeleton.

But yea, some hangups had to be developed.

*nods* shaman was one of the possibilities that occurred to me, too. Of course, in a fair number of cultures transgenderism or homosexuality was a good indicator for a future as shaman, too.
