I've Always Hated Flying, or: Why I'm Never Coming Back to the East Coast Again.

unsound and I had a really, really nice Christmas visit to New Jersey, hanging out with our respective parents and having amazing food, lots of good conversation and laughs, and great scotch.

Then we tried to fly home on Sunday. )

I had equally epic trips trying to get back to the Heartland (even before TSA), which is why I haven't done this Thanksgiving or Christmas thing for years.

It's still not worth being incredibly lonely for my mother, but I just can't equate 78 hours of travel without traveling with less than 24 hours of actually being there.

Holy crap! What an ordeal. Several really.

Yes, stay in San Francisco for Christmas.

We'll feed you. The worst that will happen with inclement weather is that I'll make you an extra cocktail and Matilda will crawl in your lap for cuddles, and Emmett will insist on watching another episode of The Mighty Boosh.

If John F. Kennedy were still President instead of reincarnated as an airport, this never would have happened.

Glad you came through your trials, and hope you get home safely and soon, and that baggage follows quickly behind. On a hundred little legs.

(also: kudos to the people who kept the ale houses and food shoppes open for all the weary travelers)

Good night! Well, thank goodness you're safe, I guess! And you seem to have been able to post with your sanity intact. But what a nightmare!

Our snow finally hit here, and it is crazy, so depending on where your flight goes, you may still have trouble. Hope not!
