I'd vote for the night shift. If you took the day shift, the time you get to socialise in will be spent tired, or stealing from sleep you need to be awake during your next work shift. If unsound gets a 9-5 job, re-evaluate then.

I also concur. Plus, once you have the demonstrated experience of having the keys to the castle and being good with that, you'd have far more leverage for bargaining shifts and hours later.

i also agree. it seems like the pros for the evening shift are better than the pros for the day shift.

I would lean toward the evening shift, too. I mean, five o'clock in the morning is damned early. However, the nice thing about this choice, is that both options seem pretty good, so you can't really make a bad choice here. Yeah for you!!!!

I know! As I was thinking about this and writing the post, I was very much aware of how lucky I am to have such "problems."

You're totally right. Plus I really like the nurses who work on evenings, and I think they'll be supportive of me while I'm learning how to be in charge. I told my nurse manager today that I'd take it!

it's all about the evening. you will acquire friends who are nite owls. and owls are wise. ;)
plus I can't imagine Unsound getting a job that doesn't have flex hours.

I think you're leaning evening shift and that's probably what would work best for you. There's a good chance that Unsound could get some flexible hours himself too.

I'll further note, that we've just shifted Matilda to a 3-day a week schedule at preschool so (a) I'll be free most mornings/days and (b) you'll have a chance to see her. Plus Emmett since he's going to be out of school in a week.

So some social options for you during the daytime.

Yay social options with you and adorable children! I'm totally game.

You are also very perceptive about my leanings; this morning I told my nurse manager that I'd take the evening position. Say hello to Charge Nurse Jen!
