Title: Unthinkable Author: pyrrhiccomedy Rating: PG Characters: America, England. Premise: With victory in Europe secured, and the war in its final throes, England approaches America with a plan to invade Russia.
Didn't he do that the last time? Does it alternate? England, then someone else, then England again?
Really, he comes out less 'listen-I-know-what-I'm-talking-about' and more 'no-you-can't-have-any-other-friends-but-me' to America. But I think that was the effect you were going for, isn't it?
God, I know, right? I always want to just diverge suddenly into an AU, all "And then Stalin totally just died! And Russia decided to give back all those countries, and then there were flowers and sunshine and hot sex forever! The end!"
Man I just love America/England table talk, they're so flippant about the saddest issues ("maybe get some of his people to lay off starving so much"). xD Also America calling Stalin Uncle Joe is maybe the best thing ever. Anyways, their convos are always so fun to read because they're really, really argumentative. Unnecessarily. Like real family members, almost (also their past relations always manage to shine through, which is funny because to my knowledge, British people today don't seem to even remember the American Revolution).
Characterization is breathtaking as usual. I'm really curious as to how you guys would write the other countries, Japan especially since Hiroshima and Nagasaki are coming up, but this IS America/Russia centric, so it's alright.

Maybe you already knew this, but that really is what they called him! Even Roosevelt! There's all these quotes of Roosevelt being like "Relax, I know how to handle Uncle Joe." XD

Believe me, my aversion to US/UK is strong enough that I'd love to write them as essentially indifferent/familial to each other in the modern day, but I guess I'm technically supposed to be writing fanfic, and I think the crush/failure to get over it is pretty obviously canon at least on England's side. =/

(Never mind the fact that hindsight proves him right. Or something.)

But I LOVE how you write these two~. <3
"Because I've seen him with his clothes off," America snapped.
I snorted fer real there. I didn't think he'd actually say it. xD

Neither did I, seriously, but then I was like, "Wait a minute, why is he hiding it?" XD
