...Sometimes I wonder if I'm really the only one out there who likes Roy/Havoc because it's Roy and Havoc. D:
Well-done RoyEd? I don't think I've ever seen someone do them in character. Some are a little better than others, and some have amazing writing skills, but I can't remember any that actually wrote Roy and Ed and not some creepy-ass OCs that looked and every once and a while sounded like them.
I like Roy/Havoc (but not Havoc/Roy). I like it a lot, actually. If we're going for IC-ness, Havoc would be the most logical choice of ANY male character in the fandom for him to be paired with; even over Hughes, in my most humble opinion. Not because Roy and Jean would ever conceivably fall in love--because they WOULDN'T--but because it would be convenient for Roy, who doesn't want or have time for a real relationship during most of the series.
Havoc is loyal (would never, EVER tell anyone about their trysts), attractive, available (which Hughes is not), and SUBMISSIVE TO ROY(which, again, Hughes is not in canon). That, and they both like sex. I can't take romance between them seriously, but casual smexing? Yes please.
But that's just my (overly-tired-been-at-school-for-seven-hours-and-still-have-five-more-to-go) two cents. <3
I dunno. To me, romance is just another way to look at a relationship. Roy, to me, seems like the type who wouldn't get that close to someone without having known them for a very long time, and there's just more evidence that he's known Hughes that long. And there could be a lot of time when Roy and Hughes were friends, but Hughes didn't know or wasn't dating Gracia yet... or there's always adultery/open marriage/some odd agreement between the three of them. 8D *shot*
Mm... I could see Maes submitting to Roy every now and then. Most healthy relationships are switchers, I think. And Roy might be more attracted to one of the few people who WOULDN'T roll over when asked.
I love both Hughes/Roy and Roy/Havoc, platonic or otherwise, but I will agree with Cat that Hughes/Roy is slightly more plausible.
...Which is my (middle-of-the-night-haven't-slept-in-days-just-spent-three-hours-half-awake-on-couch) humble two cents.
I think part of why Roy/Ed is so damn popular is because they interact with each other a lot on screen, and they are passionate when they do. Their on screen dynamic is filled with arguments, power struggles, and coming to terms with each other. This is easy to translate into yaoi fanfic and art, because there is so much interaction material to draw from
( ... )
Oh god Cat, I COULD NOT AGREE MORE. You know all those times you teased me for my "inner fanboy"? This was what I meant, only I couldn't express it so clearly. Anything else I could say would just be reiterating something you've already said, so I'm not gonna. XD But yeah, I agree wholeheartedly on the topic.
You've inspired me to research Roy and Ed's personalities/characters/proportions to the ends of the earth so that I can ship this pairing without seeming like one of the hopeless fangirls that have ruined it. The only reason I don't like being a Roy/Ed shipper is the fact that the majority of Roy/Ed shippers have deteriorated the pairing to pointless smut between two males who are "completely infatuated with each other but only pretend they hate each other to save their asses."
And Roy would so not bottom Havoc. Ever. >> That's just weird. And anyone who has Ed top Roy needs to be beaten with that bag of FMA merchandise until all the stupid bleeds out of their brain. And toes and fingers.
Roy is classy, proud, and definitely not COMPLETELY gay if he even has any attraction to any male in the world IN THE LEAST. Everyone knows the miniskirt rant. At the most, he is bisexual. He will never be completely homosexual.
I'm gonna stop stealing this comment space for my own ranting now. xD;
Haha, yeah, I thought about the power struggle thing after posting the comment. xD Edward would definitely fight back, and I guess he would win from time to time, but as you said, Roy has a lot of pride...
lol I'll try to teach her. xD; I dunno how well that'll work, though, haha... Wish me luck.
