Supernatural Fic - When by Now and Tree by Leaf

Ah, my second Supernatural story. Ever since the end of “Bloody Mary,” I’ve wanted to write a Sam/Jess piece. I finally got around to it. I wanted a “normal” story, because that’s what Sam’s trying to be; I had a lot of fun with the domestic parts. This, of course, is not the full story-more like bits and pieces, like snapshots. It’s Sam and ( Read more... )

This is wonderful, in so many ways! I love how you portrayed Jess and Sam. We saw so little of Jess on the show that it's impossible to really determine what she was like, and the Jess you've come up with here really fits Sam.

I also love that it's from Jess's point of view. I really liked seeing Sam through her eyes. I like how you start before they're together, and go through key points in their relationship and how it develops.

Very well done! Darn it...now you've got me craving more Sam/Jess fic. :P So much for my homework tonight. *grins*

Ah, thank you so much! I'm blushing here. ^.^ Yeah, Jess didn't really have time to develop a personality on the show, but she's referenced SO MANY TIMES throughout the entire first season that I figure she deserved to be a decent character.

And ha! Join me in the procrastination! Fics are cooler than homework anyway, right?

Exactly. She's such a huge part of the show even though she's hardly ever in it.

Oh, most definitely. Fics are always cooler than homework. (Hm...wonder what my teacher will think when I tell him that tomorrow? ^_^)

*cries* Oh, Sam.

I loved this. Second-person is always kind of an uphill battle, but you carried it off really well. And this was just generally beautiful, sweet and sad and funny and totally in character for Sam, as well as a lovely fleshing-out of what we know of Jess. And the last lines are just... ow. Nicely done.

Thanks so much!

I don't usually write in second person, but I started of that way with this story and by the time I realized what I was doing it was too late to go back and change it all. I'm so glad you thought I pulled it off decently.

And I'm thrilled that people are identifying with Sam through Jess. That was kinda my intention, but I wasn't sure if that was going to get through in my writing. I'm unreasonably giddy that it worked.

And your name, by the way? Totally awesome. Brynn's my mother's name, and I've never met anyone else who had it spelled the same way before. Hee!

To be honest, I don't typically read Sam/Jess. It was E.E. Cummings that lured me here, because that's one of my favorite poems, too. (Go you!) And I'm very glad I read it. I know the whole Sam loving Jess thing is pretty central to Sam's character, but I'd never really considered it much. This fic helped flesh out for me exactly how much Sam loved her. Poor boy. ~sniffles~

Thanks.

Go us! Isn't "anyone lived in a pretty how town" the best? I'm so glad I could use wonderful famous poetry to lure you into reading my fic.

Thank you for trying my story out, and I'm just tickled that you liked it. Thank YOU!

I think I may have cursed you when I got to the end - that beautiful image of the future that never was, twined with "Sam will save me."

Ouch! Beautiful, but ouch! I love this.

Sorry for the ouch ending, but I'm so glad you liked it! Thanks for reading!
