Supernatural Fic -- O Sweet Spontaneous

I haven't written Sam/Jess in ages, and I thought it was time to hop back in the saddle. So I wrote this in a couple of hours last night. Maybe not my best work, but it was fun. While this isn't part of the anyone-'verse, it technically could be. The title is from another e e cummings poem. Thanks for giving it a shot!

Such a sweet, warm fic, and then that last bit, especially that very last line, were like a punch in the gut. Ouch.

This is gorgeous. Jess characterization was particularly striking, but I think what I like best about it is that somehow I think Mary would be exactly like that too. Some sort of hidden parallel, you know? Both girls smart and the right dose of craze and all that.

And ah...the bitter sweet ending.

Thank you! I have to agree with you; this is very much how I imagine Mary as well. (And, should I ever get around to writing that John/Mary I've been stewing up for FOREVER, she'll probably be a bit similar.) I think that a strong, likable female character has to have a bit of eccentricity--otherwise, what's the fun? Real people are spontaneous; at least, the most awesome ones are. And Sam's a smart boy, so I don't think he'd choose a boring girlfriend. y'know? ;D
