Quora no haven for Prequel lovers, or Peter Jackson lovers... (Now 100% pop-up free! :-D)

I've just returned from a seven month journey of being on Quora. :-/ I thought it would be different, and wanted to branch out just from the regular site of the Star Wars Prequel Appreciation Society. It seemed alright at first. :-) Different from the usual Star Wars sites filled with haters, and open minded about George Lucas. Then the haters ( Read more... )

Ouch! That sounds disturbing. I'm glad to hear a review of the site, even though you eventually left it. Wiki says it's a q/a format and recently got a big wad of dough to keep on operating. I hope your internet 'home' is more welcoming. :)

Yeah. the funny thing is, that other than that, it's not that bad. :-) The problem is that you can't really control what shows up in your feed, once you subscribe to something ( ... )

There is one honkin' big popup here wanting me to visit xwinnerDOTcom! Is that on your end, too? pronker September 6 2017, 16:05:50 UTC
once you subscribe to something Yes, it's sure a downside of subscribing, as you describe it on quora. I've spent more time on tumblr lately, reblogging and such, and attracted x-rated 'followers' that need deleting right away. :/ It seems, unless you post completely privately, there's not a way to make your content friends only. *looks around* Thanks for friends only, LJ!*

That actually used to be a referral for Swag Bucks, and sat on the side as a side banner, which is actually a decent site. :-) However, then Swag Bucks switched their referral system to something different, and the link got disconnected. I don't know where it leads now. I've tried getting rid of it, but I don't know how. I'm probably just going to switch the journal style to something new. Easiest way to get rid of it. ;-)

There's a lot of porn on Tumblr. ;-) You're right about subscribing. And the thing is that once you've answered a question or two, becoming a contributor yourself, you get bombarded with things that "you may be interested in", even if you've unsubscribed! I told them "NO! No more Lord of the Rings!" and "No more Star Wars, unless it's Anakin based!" and yet they still keep sending stuff to my feed! O_O It's ridiculous ( ... )
