My Bday and J's are approx. 2 weeks apart, and as our Bday fun thing we decided that this year we would go to DisneyWorld (neither of us has been before). To that end, we chose what ought to have been a lull in the off-season/twixt holiday attendance and went to Orlando for 3 days of DisneyMagic[tm].  The trip was...well, 1 part completely ecstatic ( Read more... )

This review is both funny and sad. I'm really surprised that you guys had such a lousy time...I don't really like amusement parks any more, but I still love Disneyland because (at least in LA) they take such pains about the little things to make sure that people have a really pleasant experience. The last two times I've gone it's been at the busiest time of the year for them, and I've still been really impressed with how well they directed traffic and kept things enjoyable. And I'd always heard such good things about Disney World, too. You might want to mail this review to them. They seem to be the kind of organization that is always looking for this sort of data to improve the parks.

I agree with you that Buzz Lightyear = totally fun. I'm kind of sick of the Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion though... Mostly because the last few times I've gone that's been the only version available, and I really want to have the nostalgic experience of the original.

sadly, i think the last several years that they've been doing nightmare in the haunted mansion i've totally missed the holiday season to see it. or at least, i dont remember ever seeing anything but the regular ride, even though i hear really fab things about the holiday decor. and i've never had such a sad, demoralizing experience at LA, even with the time we stayed in the grand californian while they were having trouble with their cleaning staff (some poor woman's diamond earrings got flushed down the waste system despite being placed in a clean glass amid the family's belongings, in order to prevent their accidentally being hauled away with the dirty dishes, and we even had to complain that they didnt bother to pick up our dirty dishes at all). i love disneyland, and while california adventure isnt quite as cool for someone born in california, it's still a lot of fun, and really fun to have an entrance right from the lobby of the hotel(thats why we stayed in the grand californian, which also has some lovely architecture and decor ( ... )

You know, I think we stayed in the Grand Californian, if I remember correctly...I enjoyed it very much. I didn't go to California Adventure. The NBC Haunted Mansion lost its charm for me after the first time. It isn't that bad, but the music they play while you wait in line gets old pretty quickly, and all I really wanted was to get to see the original Haunted Mansion in all its glory.
