With centipedes to watch over me

Incidentally, my icon is an anthropomorhized version of Penicillium chrysogenum. I know I have all the spellings wrong. It's from the absolutely hilarious anime on crack where the premise is that a college student an agricultural university has the power to see microbes with the naked eye. And they look cute a la Hello Kitty. You will eventually ( Read more... )

Ew ew ew. There are bugs and then there are creepy bugs, and centipedes belong in the latter category. Same with the silverfish things that lived in B. when we were there. Ugh, those things would scurry out of nowhere, fast, and freak me the hell out. My sympathies.

And I hope this is the -- trough? nadir? -- of your sinus infection, and that after a good night's sleep you'll start to feel better. Sinus infections, like centipedes, suck.

Wow, I think grammar and logic are the first things to go... "salad of drugs"?? "high-point" of an illness? (and I actually remember reasoning out 'I know "nadir" isn't the word I want since it means exactly the opposite of highpoint and this is the highpoint of being sick, right?...Isn't there a fancy word for highpoint?' and then giving up. I think apogee/perigee were on the fringes of my thoughts but I couldn't quite pinpoint them at the time.) And the typos!

Anyway, I had totally forgotten about the silverfish problems in those brownstones! Although really, how could I? You will not believe this but CENTIPEDES ARE FASTER! With many more legs! It's quite terrible.

But I keep reasoning to myself, "silverfish are destructive and eat at the bindings of books. Centipedes are actually helpful and eat other insects. Plus, unlike cockroaches, ants, and flies, they stay away from human food. They are like spiders, except creepier. So really you should like them." Too bad it doesn't work.

Yeah, logic and bugs -- especially surprise! fast! leggy! dark! bugs -- do not generally mix. I repeat: ew, ew, ew.

Glad you're starting to feel better, though. And have a nice little tuition reimbursement for the summer.

Were you looking for "zenith"?

Re: zenith. No, but it would have been a good choice! I should just claim it and pretend it was so!

It was really totally on crack and I loved every second of it. I was overjoyed that they released that little 5 minute special called "The Flower-Garden of Your Intestines." Maybe I will do an LJ post about it!

You can download the torrents from here: http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/1116.html.

Or just search "Moyashimon" (which translates as "Tales of Agriculture") on Youtube. There are subbed files on there too. There is all sorts of microbe-goodness throughout, but what I really enjoyed was the "Bacterium Theater" feature they had after the ending theme.

I'd like to hear what you think of it if you end up seeing it.
