While it's not the best way, I would say to use the on-screen keyboard to insert spaces.

Here's how you get to it:

-- Click on "Start"

-- Click on "Control Panel"

-- Click on "Accessibility Options"

-- Click on "On Screen Keyboard", on the left of the screen, under "Magnifier"

Doesn't Rien have advice on where you should take it to get it fixed? Space bar should be easy -- it might just need to be cleaned. Pixel I've got no idea ...

Get a new $10 keyboard at Walmart. I've gone through 2 keyboards in 10 years, they suddenly die sometimes out of nowhere.

I don't know if the line is caused by the monitor or by some glitch in your hard drive, but you could probably test it by taking your comp to a friend's house and attaching their monitor to it to see if it goes away.
