Kilometres aren't very big

I just Googled the route I walked my dog tonight: 2.4 kms.  Now I have to eat 109 Calories to make up for it.

Heh, I wish the US would switch to Metric already. Standard American freeway speeds look better in metric...

Canada hasn't entirely switched to metric.  It's apparently part of the public/private distinction in the culture.  Canadians are comfortable talking about the weather in °C, and thermostats in public buildings display in °C, but virtually all private homes (I'm told) have thermostats that display in °F, even if there is no one living there who is old enough to remember the pre-metric days.  My house has a digital thermostat that cannot be set for °C.  I just bought a new digital kitchen oven whose settings are in °F and cannot be set for °C (even though the incremental cost of a few more lines of code for the control program would have been trivial).
