I watched the season with Marlee Matlin and Marissa Jaret Winokur, and the people who were fat-bashing her PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH. I loved her, and I loved the show. It was really awesome. I caught a few eps when Warren Sapp was a part of it (I LOVE HIM!) and I really do like the show, too. I agree that it's one of the few really positive reality shows out there, and it's really a fun show to watch.

I am sad that it's up against shows that I love more.

Hulu posts the shows in the current season. I don't actually have cable -- every TV show I watch, I watch online. And there aren't many good ones that don't get broadcast on Hulu.

It doesn't have last season, though, which is sad. The guy who came in second was like walking sex. Every time he'd do a latin dance, you'd hear women just screaming in the audience. He did a dance to 'Superman' ('If I go crazy, will you still call me Superman...') and at the end when he tore open his shirt to reveal the Superman S, someone in the front row screamed 'Save me, Superman!.

... He was really, really sexy.

Oooh! I'm sad I missed last season. I'll have to try to watch the show again. It is always worth seeing, and some of the backstory is really heartwarming, too. Marissa's story, about how she lost weight and felt more connected with her body, was really fun.

There was a woman in season 4 (which is also on the site, although there are no other seasons than that and the current one for some reason) who only had one leg. And she was a top notch dancer, doing all kinds of crazy flips and tricks perfectly.

She said she was doing the whole competition to prove to amputees that they could do anything.

Hi. Here via theferrett's friendlist. I read this and had to pop in for a quick comment.

I haven't seen any Dancing with the stars, I'm dutch and we don't get the US version over here, but do watch Strictly Come Dancing on the BBC. And you're spot on. I love the show because it is about the dancing and how it makes you feel. And people wanting the contestants doing well, not making them look foolish. It makes for great viewing and I'm not afraid to admit I had the occasional tear in my eye. I even got my brother, who isn't into dancing, to watch it. He's now hooked and watching it has become a saturday night ritual.

And yay for Kelly indeed!

The show actually inspired me to take the occasional ballroom class :) I only go when my fiance wants to go, though, because the guys who go to the class are -terrible- leaders. My fiance's sense of rhythm is limited, but at least he doesn't feel like a limp noodle.

When they make us switch partners, it's always clear that the women he dances with do -not- want to switch back.

I started dancing salsa about four years ago. I'm a rarity as I'm a single male. It's mostly single women or women taking their man. It really shows who's wearing the pants in the relationship. This leads to some funny situations when the men are forced to lead the women, which they're not used to, who won't really listen because they're not used to it either.

From experience: it does get better with time. I'm not good at leading myself, but according to one of the women I currently take lessons with I'm definitely improving, so there's hope for me and the rest of the dancing men out there yet. :)

I think the reason Sam is good at leading is because he's used to just charging ahead and pretending that he knows what he's doing, even if he doesn't.

I did have to learn to be led, though. In the end, the teacher told me to start dancing with my eyes closed.

It wont matter if she wins. People will just forget about it or make up excuses why she won. People will find excuses to still be assholes and call her fat.

Yeah, you're right, and it sucks that people can be that way. :(

But I still have this best friend desire to see her do well.
