Just got back from Pirates 3. I'm not gonna spoil y'all, but I'll put it this way: You know the reviews that have been popping up saying that it sucks?

The reviewers weren't at the fucking movie.

Go see it.

arrrrr!

Actually I wasn't really impressed with it. It had some nice elements but the 'twists' that they laid out I already knew within the first twenty minutes of the movie. It was just sitting around waiting the rest of the time after that. >.>

The twists didn't interest me as much as the character development. I thought that the acting was really good, and especially for an action movie (which Pirates is), there was a lot of very sensitive, thoughtful interaction.

It didn't have any startling plot twists, but I like my movies to make sense. Shit that comes out of nowhere just pisses me off. I liked it. ^_^ I was sad about how many people left when the credits started, though. Especially on a series which has given us after-credits goodies before.

When I saw it, at least half the people in the theater stayed through the credits. I was laughing about how when I first saw pirates, my friends and I were the only ones left by the monkey scene. The second movie, same thing, with a handful more people, but not many. This time? Probably about half the crowd.

So I guess some people are learning and some aren't.

Some people called the movie "cluttered", I think of it as "dense". There's just a LOT going on, from beginning to end. All in all I loved it. It's the type of movie that I can watch over and over agaiin and continue to pull out new elements and connections.

By the way, Best. Wedding. Ever.

Yeah. If you want a movie with a clear and unwavering theme, that leads you by the nose from plot point to plot point, this isn't it. But it's the best treatment of a movie with a lot going on that I've seen in a long time. They didn't drop any of their balls.

Yes! If I get married I'd want it to be by Barbosa as well. I was also surprised that he didn't really doublecross anyone. I was expecting him to do something evil and he never did. I guess all he really wanted to was to be in control of his own life again. I liked the surprise at the end but it is somewhat confusing because it means Swan and Turner could be in a 4th movie or they couldn't. I've read that there will probably be a 4th movie but that it will be a spinoff so it won't nescessarily include all the characters. I'd think it would be about Jack's little quest at the end of the movie but it said in the article that it probably wouldn't be about Sparrow. Oh and sadly there were NO ninja anywhere. Not a one. :-p

I was a little disapointed at how Chow Yun Fat realy wasn't in the movie that long. I thought he'd have a bigger role considering all the noise about him being in the damn movie.

The first hour was slooooooooooooooooooow. So if the reviewer didn't get past the first our, they probably gave it a low rating.
