geeze. XD I agree that it was well done in terms of special effects and cinematography :P The symbolism got a bit redundant for me. I didn't like the ending either, and also felt that it lacked emotion. I really wish they spent a little but less time on the romance and more time on the other stuff. In our theater there were beach balls (until taken up by staff) and Matthew Wheatly yelling out his number to everyone in the theater XD as well as way too many enthusiastic Twilight fans ;)
I agree with Daniel about the burning of the burrow. Rather pointless and stupid, no?
Movies will never measure up to books, ever. However, I think that if you look at this movie separately from the book, then it was a decent movie. I think it was certainly one of the better movies so far.
You can wish they spend less time on romance and things, but if you think back to the sixth book actually a lot of it was about romance. Ridiculous if you think in terms of all seven books as a whole, but that's just the way it is.
I didn't really think much about the burning of the burrow. It wasn't part of the book and I was actually "wow Harry being angry at Bellatrix because she killed Sirius right" because that wasn't explicit in the movie but it makes so much sense. But yeah, in terms of everything the Burrow being burned down was kind of pointless, I guess. Ginny running after Harry was so fricking stupid jeesus. And also the fire was amazing - it looked like fiendfyre, if you remember what that is.
Yeah, the movie was decent. I'll have to look back at the fifth movie to see which one I liked better; in terms of plot I think I might like the fifth one better, but both were amazingly executed.
I'm very interested to see how they end up making the 7th (2 movies).
Yeah. The constant black vs. white for example. The white bird died while the black bird lived. The black of Snape's outfit vs. the light gray of Dumbledore. How the good characters were so often lit up by the sky behind them but never the bad characters
I never even noticed that >> And Snape always wears black. And Dumbledore always wears random multi-colored robes because he's just like that. ^^ Maybe you're just reading too much into it.
And WHAT about Tom Felton? But I'll forgive you on account of the fact that I'm sure you just neglected to remember him because he's older than the rest.
I don't see why you disagree with my random commentary. From what you've said, I think we agree on all the major points. I'm just not as eloquent as you in portraying my thoughts. :)
Perhaps disagreed is a bad word. Uh, it didn't look like Harry was "blowing... off" the black girl to me. It more looked like he was nervous/didn't know what to do, hahah. And I didn't get the sense that Dumbledore was really contemplating the billboard.
Also, I didn't even notice they used a different actor for Riddle. I think Riddle was actually very well done, if not entirely what I had in my mental image. Very creepy and just brilliant. "This will be our little secret." brrr.
Our audience knew that Ron was being poisoned and nobody laughed. At least, I don't remember anyone laughing. And yes, I can blame Ron for his own problem of just not being Ron! Even if he doesn't have lines he can still make a presence. But he always seems to disappear into the background. AND plus when he does have lines he seems to say them so half-heartedly.
By "blowing off" I meant ditching their date. Dumbledore wasn't contemplating it in that way, of course, but I just thought it was a poor attempt at humor, like the guy's mother in Transformers 2. I had no problems with new Riddle's acting except that I thought he would be more charismatic. I simply think old Riddle tops new Riddle when it comes to looks. :P To be honest, I believe Ron's acting is most likely directed by outside influences. But yes, alright, I concede.
What in the world do you mean by "outside influences"? Although, I haven't seen Grint in any other type of movie so I wouldn't know.
Riddle didn't exactly have enough lines to really bring across the charisma, did he? I think he did wonderfully with what he had; very haughty, very arrogant. Man, I would love a well-written fic on him. If I remember correctly what the old Riddle looked like, I prefer this one xP He had a smarmy attitude that I just love, even if it's not particularly canonical.
I feel like they really emphasized that Dumbledore was 'using' Harry, especially with those lines, "do you want me to let [Slughorn collect me]?" kinda thing. And come to think about it, Harry Potter isn't really about Harry at all, is it? It's all about Dumbledore and Voldemort, although since Voldemort is almost a perfectly flat character, it becomes all about Dumbledore.

"Emma Watson is the only decent child actor."
