Thank you so much for your comments on the style. I really felt writing in present tense was keeping it restrained. Kind of like forcing me to keep focused on the here and now, if you know what I mean.

I think you mean Stockholm Syndrome (though I think it goes by some other name as well). I can see that, definitely -- though as he's not completely a captive of Snape's here, I was thinking it was more like the Nightingale Effect? That's the one where the patient falls in love with the nurse. (Snape the nurse, LOL!) Yeah, maybe not... *grin*
