The loss of the Bifrost was a great blow. To some, it was an even greater blow than the cracking of the Royal Family and loss of the second son. Politics and gossip being what they were, the truth was a muddled thing and Thor had never before longed for the achingly sweet, sensical lies of his brother more than he now did. But, Loki was gone. No matter how far, this was the first time Loki had wandered down a path Thor could not follow.

And yet they feasted. Life in Asgard continued as usual. As if a Prince had not killed himself.

(Thor knows they have to continue. He raged at first, at his father who had let Loki fall, at his mother who had not cared to see what Loki was doing, at his friends that couldn't understand he'd rather have his brother alive and sane than any number of thrones. But the Queen had taken him aside and explained about the precarious balance Asgard kept in the name of peace. Let no weakness show. Let Loki be an anomaly - or a willing sacrifice ( ... )

I just love all the little details. Loki and Thor having been raised as a ruling unit, but Thor never noticed. And the little unintended consequences that actually hit the snakes four where it hurts ( ... )

But does Asgardian healers are not able to confirm the truth of Loki's identity? And then, how creator of "changeling" knew that Loki is the Jotun? Only Odin himself and Frigga know it. And now Loki... So any such confrontation with the dwarves should reveal the truth, that Loki is immortal... and was killed by dwarves without any retaliation from Asgard (and who knows how many times situation repeated among this years, not changing only victim). I wonder that must think others Loki's killers, after not received any official retribution (I think, depending on the circumstances surrounding, when it was required, Loki avenged himself in silent, spy way) or even word from Asgard, but finding out there is someone who pretends to be Loki (or it's their corpse pretended himself to be Prince of Asgard?).

It's covered in...some other part somewhere:

Basically what Loki is weaving is that the Dwarves Killed Loki and threw out his body. Mind you, he stays dead for a while depending on how he died and what he wants and other esoteric things.

Then the Chitauri picked up his body and made a copy out of Loki's flesh. Half resurrection, half puppet.

So the flesh is the same.

The Dwarves assumed it was so Asgard wouldn't loose face/to keep war from happening. It was fancy awesome work and they always wanted to know, but because the golem's existence was protecting them (Asgard could pitch a fit if they knew Loki was dead) they couldn't say anything.
