“I fainted, did I?”

“Yes, you did.”

“Oh.” She shrugged. “I don’t do that often.”

Jadeite glanced around suspiciously. Kyoko blinked and looked around herself. “Why am I in the human realm? If I were that bad off, you wouldn’t be here and I’d be in intensive care. Besides, I feel fine.”

“It’s been a crazy few days. The…”

“Jadeite, call in a nurse. I’m awake; they’ll want my vitals.”

He sat impatiently till the nurse left, telling them a doctor would be by in a few hours to check her out. She judged whatever was happening not too desperate or they’d never have brought her to a hospital unless she was dying (and possibly not even then). Or at the very least they would have escaped through a window as soon as she woke.

“Assuage my curiosity,” she finally began. “They think I’m epileptic? That means you know why I actually fainted because I was already diagnosed back home. Start with me, then the rest of the world.”

“You’re pregnant.”

“Is fainting a common symptom?”

Jadeite held perfectly still for a moment before rejecting the idea of making her accept what he had just said. It would hit her sometimes if she was going to brush over it now. Hopefully after the business was handled; she was good about that.

“No. Or, at least, not that I know of. The problem is Bakene.”

“Bakene? What’s he doing?” She looked indignant and about to give a certain youma in a piece of her head a certain piece of her mind.

“He’s not doing anything, it’s just that he is. He’s a ‘he’ and that’s what’s giving you trouble.”

“So that’s why I’m in the human realm. I can stay in my fully human, fully female form here. Shin-san is handling the Dark Kingdom?”

“Shin is acting as regent of the Kingdom. The others are there with him.”

“Good.”

“But Ryo’s word is worse. That’s why this is a crisis, not a vacation.”

“What?” She tensed, then flinched at the IV needle shifting. She pulled it out, ripped off some of the paper hospital shift, and grabbed some medical tape to secure her light bandage on. “What?”

“Sailor Moon’s pregnant too.”

“Shit. How long do we have?”

“Seven months at most, by our estimate. Probably one or two. We’re out of time.”

“We don’t know enough! The Great Ice must be magical, but we still don’t know the circumstances. And we can only guess that our magical aligners will put us under the spell too, though ‘us’ under the circumstances won’t be including me, if I’m here!”

Kyoko stopped and took a few slow, deep breaths. “I trust Shin-san. Let’s handle things on this side, now. It’s time to talk to the future awakener of the Earth directly.”

Two people strolling out of a hospital confidently looked enough like two visitors, rather than a visitor and an escaping patient, that no one stopped them. Kyoko shrugged her shoulders to adjust her holsters into place under her clothes. The clothes Jadeite had brought were her “queenlier” ones, rather than more toward gangster or uniform. Something striking, but not in a way that would have her be instantly distrusted. She was glad her weaponry was in place and flicked her lighter for comfort a few times before slipping it in her pocket.

I’m pregnant. That can’t be real. I can’t be surprised. I stopped taking my birth control pills ages ago. I’m married. But, damn it, there’s no children in my future. I know. I’m not Sailor Moon to have met my own daughter before she will be born, soon. I was never supposes to have had children! Admittedly, not much of my life has gone as I’ve expected it for a while now… No, later. After we wake up from the Great Ice. If we wake up.

“Call Ryo, Naru, and Petz. Tell them to meet us there. Call Shin-san and tell him I’m fine, so he can stop worrying.” She’s met her daughter; I wonder what my baby will be like. Oh--I just can’t stand it right now. “Time to talk, face to face, queen to queen, to Serenity.”
