This would be a perfect way to deal with Sam's transition from hunting to "normal" after the end of season 7. Which probably means whatever they do will be nothing like this. :{

That was reassuring and sad. Yeah I would think that Sam would look but in their world they already know that opening purgatory isn't the easiest nut to crack and the consquences that came with Castiel opening it the first time might make this very plausible for Sam.

The idea that Sam is truly alone is what gets me. Yeah Jody might be there to help him but he really doesn't have any family out there now and the thought of what he might do to try to save Dean.

What's worse is that Sam doesn't even know where Dean is, or if he's even alive. If he knew they were in Purgatory, at least that would be a lead. Poor Sammy ;_;
