The new Hayao Miyazaki movie opens this weekend! Howl's Moving Castle! It's about a Castle, it Moves, and ummm it's owned by Howl... It's directed by Miyazaki! He did Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke and one of the best movies ever, My Neighbor, Totoro

I'm not trying to be a pooper, but I think it's already playing at the Uptown:

I don't like the Uptown so much so I was hoping I could find it playing in a different theatre.... Not so much apparently.

Like I'd go in an instant if it were at the Lagoon, or any *Plex/Stadium Theatre.

I got the start date from the Citypages, so I may have got last week's copy. I have sentimental feelings for the Uptown. Long history with that theater (getting to be involved with the first MST3k Live show there!) and it's the ONLY balcony seating left in town and it's all historic and shit. Plus, a BIG screen, which is so better than the dinky Lagoon boxes. But opinions opinions.

Plus, the important thing is for folks to go see it. The movie's gotta do some bank at it's Uptown limited engagement (one of the initial nationwide limited engagement theaters). What the movie does now will determine when and IF there is a wider release to more theaters.

The last time I went to the Uptown I think it was for a showing of Ghost in the Shell, that was about 6? years ago (not the original release). All I remember was not feeling comfortable there, and it being a sub-par screening. Did they renovate the place? New seats? I remember the seats sucking.
