Chapter 2
The plan gone horribly wrong
The days crept by slowly and Kim Junsu suffered. Through breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even while he was trying to study he could only hear her sister’s endless complaints.
“It’s 9.30am already!” Yuri moaned as the day finally arrived. “Only half an hour and Park Yoochun will arrive…” She played with her cereal sadly. The competition letter lay on the table in front of her.
“Come on. Cheer up, Yuri.” Junsu comforted her as he patted her on her back. “Who told you to meddle with nature?” He received a murderous glare. Suddenly Yuri had a change in her facial expression.
“Tell them to change the date!” she exclaimed, nudging Junsu. There was an ‘I’m such a genius’ look on her face.
“We’re talking about a star here. I go up to him and tell him to change the date?!” Junsu spat exaggerating. The idea was crazy but Yuri simply nodded her head.
“But doesn’t the guy have a schedule?!”
“I’m sure he will change the date. He’s the best!” she argued.
DING DONG!
“It’s them!!!” Yuri squealed, overjoyed. “Quick!” She steered Junsu to the door, stuffed the letter in his hand and jumped behind the sofa to hide. Junsu looked at her dumbfounded. At this point in time, Junsu had no other choice.
“Open the door” Yuri hissed. Junsu sighed deeply before opening the door. Immediately he could see a black stylish Lexus parked in the driveway. He had expected a limousine but maybe that was a bit too obvious. A star in a limousine was a dead giveaway.
“Hello. We’ve come to pick up Kim Yuri for her date with Park Yoochun” the man said as he bowed politely.
“Ah... right. Um well, my sister... you see. She doesn’t feel too well today… I’m wondering if you could postpone the date...” Junsu asked.
“Sir, I’m not sure about that. You would have to ask Park Yoochun himself. You must know, his schedule is tight” he replied. Junsu nodded knowingly.
He gave a final look back at his concealed sister, before following the man to the parked car. The man opened the door to reveal the star dressed head to toe in designer labels. He looked up at Junsu with a raised eyebrow.
“Who is this…?”
“He’s the Kim Yuri’s brother. He would like to negotiate with you”
“Thanks Eeteuk” he brushed the man named Eeteuk aside and took his glasses off to take a clear look at Junsu. Junsu felt uncomfortable as he examined him.
“You want to negotiate with me?” he asked.
“You see my sis-sister is sick today and she can’t attend…Is it p-possible to move the date?” Junsu stuttered, suddenly struck by the fact that this guy was a superstar. Great, his first impression was bad.
“Do I look like I have a lot of spare time in my hands?”
‘Of course you don’t! That’s what I tried to tell Yuri!’ Junsu shouted mentally.
“My sister is a huge fan of yours! But unfortunately she’s sick …” Junsu explained. The things he would do for his little sister, even if she was an annoying brat.
“Where is she?” Yoochun responded, looking back at the house. Junsu’s arms automatically rose up frantically in the air to block his house from view.
“What are you doing?” Yoochun asked, looking more entertained by the second.
“Doing what? Oh…” Junsu realised what he meant and quickly dropped both his arms. “I was covering you from the wind, you know...”
“Wind..?” There wasn’t even a single breeze, let alone wind.
“Oh I thought I felt something” Junsu lied, failing epically. Eeteuk, who stood beside Junsu, stared at him oddly.
“So what are we going to do now?” Yoochun asked, his eyes boring into Junsu’s.
“How sick is your sister that she can’t attend?” Yoochun asked.
“She’s so sick that she’s in hospital!” Junsu exclaimed.
“I’m sorry to hear that but I’m not going to change the date. It’s now or never. It’s a once in a lifetime chance, you know. I can’t just do whatever I want, whenever I want.” Yoochun stated.
“So you’re saying since this is a once in a lifetime chance, I should go on the date with you?” Junsu questioned sarcastically. 'What the hell, did I just say that?' Junsu thought in horror.
Unexpectedly Yoochun grabbed onto his arm and pulled him in. Junsu’s bottom landed onto the car seat with a thud.
“What are you..?” Before Junsu could finish his sentence, Yoochun leaned over and shut the car door. He pulled the seatbelt and buckled Junsu in.
“If your sister can’t have a date with me, I don’t see why you can’t” Yoochun said, smirking as he placed both his arms over his head in a resting position.
Junsu stared wide eyed at Yoochun. He was only joking earlier?! The guy actually took him seriously? A date? With HIM?
“Eeteuk, hit the wheel” Yoochun commanded. Eeteuk got into the drivers’ seat and started the engine.
“First, we need to get you into some ‘real’ clothes” Yoochun said, looking up and down at Junsu’s attire which consisted of a black singlet top and grey sweatpants.
“Wait. Stop the car!” Junsu screamed. Eeteuk looked back through the car mirror waiting for Yoochun’s instructions.
“The city square” Yoochun said, completely ignoring Junsu.
“YAH! Let me out of here!” Junsu yelled. It was no use. Beep. Beep.
Junsu felt the vibration of his phone in his pocket. He faked a few coughs before fishing it out from his pants. It was a message from his sister.
‘WHY DID YOU LEAVE WITH HIM? GET YOUR BUTT BACK HERE!!’ The text message said. Junsu could almost imagine his sister shrieking into his ears.
Suddenly Junsu heard the unbuckling of a seatbelt and a warm presence beside him. Park Yoochun was looking over his shoulder, trying to read the message.
“Yah! What are you doing?!” Junsu exclaimed, hiding his phone.
“Who was it?” Yoochun asked, curious.
“That’s none of your business!” Junsu exclaimed before turning his back on Yoochun and quickly switching his phone off.
“Why are you turning you’re phone off? Ohhhh, wouldn’t want anyone to disturb our date now. Do we?”
Junsu eyed Yoochun with a sceptical face. “What? You forced me in here!!” Junsu said, raising his voice.
“I thought someone said it was a ‘once in lifetime chance’ and they should ‘go on a date’ with me” Yoochun teased.
“Can’t you tell that I was jok-”
“Don’t worry. I have a huge male fan base. Some even claim they want to marry me” Yoochun sniggered. “I guess it’s normal”
“I’m not you fa-”
“Mr Park, we’ve arrived” Eeteuk cutting off their bickering. Junsu folded his arms in annoyance. Yoochun advanced toward Junsu, which replaced his anger with shock. A gasp escaped his mouth at the close proximity of their faces. Junsu blinked furiously as Yoochun’s cheek neared his nose.
The car door clicked before he noticed what Yoochun had been doing. Yoochun’s eyes were smiling before he signalled towards the door. “You first”
Junsu instantly dashed out of the door, mentally slapping himself for overreacting just moments before. ‘I guess that’s what happens when you see a superstar up close?’
Unexpectedly, Yoochun was inside disguising himself in a pair of sunnies and a beanie. However his designer labels were hard to miss. Junsu stepped aside as Yoochun exited.
The price tags immediately popped out at him as Junsu entered. This was clearly not a store for average people. Junsu continued staring in awe at his surroundings until he felt a tug at his singlet.
“Yah, come here” Yoochun said, not giving Junsu a chance to say no. He pulled Junsu to an area where there were a bunch of smart suits.
“Here, try this” He picked out a stylish black jacket and handed it to Junsu. Junsu took it and looked at it in disbelief.
“What’s wrong?”
“Don’t you think it’s a bit too formal?” Junsu asked, placing it back onto the shelf. “Usually when people have dates, they wear something casual and comfortable…”
“When was your last date?” Yoochun asked with a mocking grin.
Junsu’s ears immediately turned red. It was quite a while… fine, it had been a few years. “I just wore a t shirt and a pair of jeans” he responded, answering the question indirectly.
“Nowadays, guys have to look good not only the girls. We have to compliment the girl, you know?” Yoochun took the jacket off its hanger, reached out for Junsu’s arm and slipped it into the sleeve. He did the same to the other and stood in front of Junsu, fixing the jacket onto his body.
“I can do it myself. I’m not a little kid” Junsu stated, fiddling with the collar.
“Aish, just let me do it” Yoochun said, brushing Junsu’s hands away. At one stage both his hands enveloped around Junsu’s neck. Junsu couldn’t help but feel uneasy. His eyes were on Yoochun the entire time. The guy was close. Too close.
“That’s better” Yoochun placed his hand on his chin observing Junsu as though he were an artist.
~~~
“I’ll pay for everything that he’s wearing” Yoochun said, as he presented his credit card to the shop assistant.
Junsu’s mouth formed an O as he saw the 4 number digit on the cash register. The two along with Eeteuk exited the store.
“Do I need to pay...?” Junsu started. There was no way he could afford it!
“What?” Yoochun didn’t catch him.
“These clothes..”
“Dudes usually buy gifts for their girlfriends on a date, right?”
“Yeah, I guess…WAIT, ‘girl’friend?!” Junsu exclaimed, outraged.
“Well somebody has to take that role” Yoochun said, chuckling.
‘This guy is really treating it as a date!’ Junsu yelled in his head. ‘Like I could pretend to be his best friend for the day! Why am I his DATE?!’
