A Room with a View

I have an absolutely wonderful view from my living room window. Today, when I went downstairs from the kitchen, I spotted some beautiful northern lights! I tried to catch in on camera, but I don't have a tripod, so getting something decent was quite difficult. Anyhow, here you can see them as well:

Holy crap, that's awesome. I've only ever seen northern lights once, in winter, in the state of New Hampshire. But I had to drive out into a field to see them...can't imagine getting a glimpse right from my front window!! Although tonight, here in Texas, it's certainly cold enough. We're getting down to 16-18 F.

Actually, it doesn't need to be cold. They're there even in summer, but since it's daylight 24/7 you just can't see them. You just need a dark, clear sky to see them. I've seen northern lights as early as September. :)

Not familiar with F, I'm afraid, so 16-18 F really don't mean anything to me. ;) (Are there anyone else but the Americans that still use F?)
