Before I started planning for this trip, the only part of Tokyo I actually knew by name was Akihabara, and that was from reading Megatokyo. It actually reasonably lives up to its reputation. Akihabara is a district originally built on cheap electronics, and now built on pure geekitude.

Hong Kong is shiny.

More than that. Hong Kong is a towering, booming, gleaming monument to capitalism, thumbing its nose at mainland China. Henry (who is from New York) mentioned that Nathan Street in Tsim Sha Tsui is loud enough to make Times Square look like a Zen garden, and Tsim Sha Tsui isn't even the center of Hong Kong ( Read more... )
